what we do
The Gladstone Region Air Quality Community Group facilitates, educates and inspires to build a community understanding around air quality. Listed below is how these goals are achieved.
EDUCATE & INFORM
To educate and inform, we promote the use and dispersal of publicly available information such as data being provided by Queensland Department of Environment and Science (DES) through its website https://www.des.qld.gov.au/.
The Group provide air quality data and bulletins and where necessary communicating in a manner that people with a non-scientific background can understand support material and curriculum materials. We also evaluate the available information, and continually analyse gaps in community knowledge to discover areas requiring further action.
To measure our effectiveness, we:
– Monitor and survey public knowledge of air quality matters in relation to Gladstone; and
– Monitor and survey the use of available information for citizen science and education purposes.
